[ My Story ] NOT HALL ] Cleaning Tips ] Wanted ]

It all began about 16 years ago with a visit to a restaurant - THE DINER - in Yountville California. Displayed on their walls were lots of beautiful pitchers (Fiesta, Bauer, Wallace, Alamo, and Hall - I was later to learn). I started collecting every colorful pitcher I could find. However there was something about the vivid colors, the stylized designs and the high quality glaze and clay of the Hall pieces that found me soon collecting exclusively Hall. I have since met several other people who started their Hall collections after visiting The Diner!  At the Diner's yard sale they had only a few very broken pitchers.  I purchase a couple ($1-$3) just for nostalgia.

The beauty of a single Pitcher standing alone is often lost when you have a large collection of Hall pieces. Take the time to look at just one piece and imagine the artist creating it. I encourage you to look and see the beauty and design - one piece at a time. To take a beautiful shape (sculpture to me) and add decals and decorations often only detracts from the art.

I have expanded beyond just pitchers and now collect sets of plain kitchen ware as well.

I have learned a lot in the few years I have been collecting Hall. Many helpful people, reference books and now the Internet have all been very enlightening. One thing I have learned over and over is that you can never be certain that Hall did not make "that" in a certain color or shape.

These pages contain some pictures, observations and guesses about Hall Refrigerator Ware and Solid Color Kitchen Ware. The reference books only dedicate a few pages to these topics. I am creating these pages because I feel this area of Hall collecting is somewhat neglected. I hope to expand everyone's knowledge (especially my own), and to give others the opportunity to contribute. I solicit your input. If you have pictures or information I would be glad to add them to these pages. If you have a correction to something I have said please let me know. (Solid color teapots are already well covered in reference books and other web pages so I am not including them here)

I do have a few Hall teapots (can one collect Hall and not have any?)  I could not resist these teapots though - even though they are not Hall.  One of a refrigerator (since I collect refrigerator ware) and one of a vintage Airstream Trailer (since I have one of those too - in this case I think one is enough to "collect"!)
